About the Festival
Entering its eighth year, the Lehigh Valley Food & Wine Festival has grown from its humble beginnings as a one-day tented event to a full weekend experience. The largest event of its kind in the region, the Festival showcases cuisine from the area's top restaurants and wine from around the world to approximately 3,000 guests over two days.
Hosted by Northampton Community College and the Sands Bethlehem, the Festival began in 2010 as a way to provide hands-on experience to Northampton's Culinary and Hospitality Management students, raise money for the NCC Foundation, and celebrate the tantalizing dining experiences available in the Lehigh Valley.
About Northampton Community College and the NCC Foundation
For 50 years Northampton Community College has kept education affordable and accessible for the Lehigh Valley and beyond. Offering credit courses, job training and life enrichment classes, NCC serves over 36,000 people each year.
Founded in 1969, the Northampton Community College Foundation is the private fundraising arm of the College. On an annual basis, over $2 million is raised for student scholarships, updating educational equipment, purchasing library materials and supporting special programs which are not funded through the College's regular income sources.
To date, the Lehigh Valley Food & Wine Festival has raised over $1.2 million to benefit the NCC Foundation. A portion of these funds are used to send three Culinary students and three Hospitality students to New Orleans, where they will spend a week working in each of Emeril Lagasse's restaurants. Students must meet GPA requirements, write an essay, and compete in a cooking competition to earn the coveted internships. The winners are announced by Chef Emeril Lagasse during his cooking demo at the Festival.
